  • I started the Fight Fitness community as part of their 6-week challenge. Within three months, I lost 20 pounds, increased my energy, and gained a community of peers who truly value self-care. Instruction The class offerings include FIIT (fight inspired interval training), Kickboxing, and Boxing. Each class is unique with diverse activities, and taken together, the combination throughout the week is well-rounded and offers a good mix of martial arts movements and cross training. Some coaches often demonstrate a movement and then explain how it may be used in application. For example, squatting and swinging your leg out = sweeping your opponent. Great for visualisation. Community The environment is positive and friendly! The community, coaches and clients alike, are a supportive and actively engaged group who are ready to help, guide and educate in fitness, nutrition, and safety. Whether you solely participate in the classes, or opt in for personal training, the coaches are generous with their time and their advice is genuine. Accountability It can be intimidating to walk into a private, specialized gym, or dojo, as opposed to a larger gym chain that offers anonymity. When no one knows who you are, it can be easy to skip workouts and classes; this can lead to a cycle of self-deprecation and guilt. Admitting vulnerability and getting past the fear is hard, but it is also empowering to be accountable only to yourself. I appreciate that Fight Fitness holds me accountable to my goals. The coaches offer continued check-in calls (every few weeks) to help you stay on track, and also respond to questions via their app. The app itself provides a platform to track food, body stats and workout activity. There are also weekly blogs and motivational information. Intentionality The most success I have is when I set short-term realistic goals and take small steps towards them; this helps build confidence. I have learned to be more intentional and mindful about every aspect along the way, from what I eat, to allocating time for the activities and people that restore me. Being part of the Fight Fitness community has contributed to this mindset. After each class there is a cool-down and meditation that includes a few minutes to reflect on the things for which you are grateful. Perspective I believe in life-long learning and that growth comes from being challenged. Feeling confident and strong, both physically and mentally (mind-body-sprit), and surrounding myself with people who motivate me, and can help me achieve those goals is important to me. The Fight Fitness leadership team has done a great job of stewarding such a community. Thank you!

  • Completed a 4-class pass at Fight Fitness and was very impressed. The facility is gorgeous and the instructors are top notch - I believe many of them have elite training backgrounds and it shows - the moves they teach you are straight from the dojo/ring. The workouts are CHALLENGING but so fun. I left every session feeling invigorated. Perhaps most importantly, the attitude and atmosphere of the people and place is welcoming and inclusive. I was specifically looking for a MMA/Martial Arts-focused gym and this is excellent. They even have more formal Martial Arts training workshops/opportunities, which I may need to check out down the road!

  • After a 5+ year hiatus from Fight Fit, Joe recognized me as soon as I walked in the door. I was shocked. He welcomed me with open arms and was just excited to have me working with the Fight Fit team again. I'd come in for the 6 week challenge and was blown away by all of the renovations that had been done since I'd been there last. Plenty of bags to go around, a FULL boxing ring and even a personal training area alongside updated changing areas for maximum privacy. The changes were a fantastic reminder of Fight Fits success and why I'd missed working with them over the years. They are always dedicated to growth, for us and themselves. Throughout my time working with them, alongside getting you amazing results, I can feel that the team will do everything in their power to help you achieve your goals by providing accountability, support and accommodation where possible. Overall, I'm so happy to have Fight Fit back in my life and I'm looking forward to continuing my journey with them.

Before the Fight Fitness 21 Day Challenge, I would just go on walks and follow workout videos. With the help of the coaches at Fight Fitness, I’m now on my way to accomplish my long-term goal of dropping 3 sizes! I would recommend this program to all of my friends.

Because of the lockdown during the pandemic, I worked less and was always at home, and because I was earning less income, I ate ‘not-so-healthy’ foods and tried to save money. I sit a lot because I am a piano teacher. I didn’t work out much, but I did try to walk outside more to get some sort of fitness in.

I decided to Join Fight Fitness because I wanted to feel more energetic and feel better than always sitting at home and I wanted to trim down some weight because I definitely gained too much during COVID, especially around my belly area!

I would recommend Fight Fitness to anyone that wants to have fun with fitness, and whoever can travel to the location.

I had tons of fun and became absolutely more aware in meal prepping and what I’m eating during the day! I love the energy at the gym, and all the coaches I crossed paths with are amazing! They make me think that I can do anything and do it well.

Before joining Fight Fitness, I was barely moving around as I sit on a chair most of the day. Energy levels were extremely low and I was fatigued easily. I would also eat a lot of junk food (pizza, burgers etc). My diet was just awful and lazy! I searched for a gym for 2 weeks, and then I found Fight Fitness. I was so impressed on how they deal with professional situations and the amount of information delivered. My first impression was extremely pleasant.

I highly recommend this program to anyone that wants to get in shape, lose weight and/or improve their health! The people working at Fight Fitness are simply amazing! They really care for what they are doing and treat you like family. They keep me motivated through my journey and keep teaching me new things. So let’s talk about my habit forming and life-changing weight loss journey I’ve been on. It’s been 16 months since I said to myself that enough was enough and walked into Fight Fit Bootcamps in Stouffville. I told the coaches that I only needed to BREATHE and gain weight so this might not work. But boy was I wrong.

After having two kids, I had to face the reality that my body would never look the same. Yes, I can be proud of those stretch marks, it carried my two babies for 10 months each. I can accept the changes in my chest since they kept my kiddos alive with milk they needed. But what I couldn’t accept was the feeling it gave me. The feeling of inadequacy, of low self esteem, of unhappiness, of self pity and of hope that one day I can lose a few. I was always hiding under baggy clothes, I hated taking pictures and couldn’t even look in the mirror. So one day when my second baby was a year old and wasn’t so needy, I decided to do something for myself for once and took the plunge. Mind you, I started in Fight Fitness Markham 5 to 6 years ago and stopped after I got pregnant with my first. So I always said I would go back to Fight Fitness when I could. I took my first 6 week challenge and then I was hooked! I would reach one goal and then set another. 20 pounds wasn’t enough, I wanted more. 10% BF was too little, I needed more. So FIVE challenges and 16 months later, I am finally where I want to be.

The community at Fight Fitness is amazing. They really make you feel like family. Everyone from coaches and to fellow ninjas are supportive, knowledgeable and the greatest cheerleaders. I am so blessed to have met such great mentors, you truly are my inspiration, each and every single one of you! To my fellow ninjas and pad partners, I couldn’t have met better people to workout with. Always pushing me to do better, lift heavier, run faster and put my gloves higher 😂.

What’s my key to success? A spoonful of determination, a pinch of stubbornness, a cup full of never give up, a whole lot of changing your eating habits and a bit of consistency. I must admit, even at times when I wasn’t on a challenge, I still at a challenge friendly breakfast and lunch. And my dinners always contained no carbs.

All I can say is DON’T QUIT, GO GET IT. If I can do it, anyone can. Just don’t think of it as a restriction and think of it as a lifestyle change and you will reach all the goals.
