Joseph “Joe Fight” Hsiung is the CEO and Founder of Fight Fitness, a company with a passion to help women and men burn fat, tone up and learn to kick butt, literally!
Joe believes that blending martial arts philosophies with western training methods will help people not only improve their physical well-being, but ascend them to higher levels of greatness in their lives.
Joe has worked in the fitness industry as a personal trainer, fitness equipment salesman and in physical therapy clinics before starting Fight Fitness over 5 years ago. Since then, it has grown to 2 locations, over 300 members and over 20 team members to help support its mission of transforming people’s lives through fitness.
He and his team hold decades of experience together but they still hold high standards for each individual team member. Along with nationally accredited certifications for each team member, Fight Fitness has developed it’s own instructor certifications which require all participants to not only demonstrate proficient technique and knowledge but also pass a physical test to be able to join the ranks of being a certified instructor at Fight Fitness.
Joe completed his B.Sc. in Kinesiology and Health Science with honours from York University and continues a life-long pursuit for knowledge by attending various industry events around the world. He is a sought after leader in the fitness business world and actively presents at various events to help share business best practices.
Chris "Chaos" Wise is a self proclaimed "Mastermind" of the fitness industry with ties to numerous fitness organizations such as Fight Fitness, Instagram, Facebook and You Tube. He is a Certified Kickboxing Instructor through Kickboxing Canada and Personal Trainer through CanFit Pro. He is somewhat of an expert at taking all the chaos that is the fitness industry and simplifying it to make it manageable for everyday clients, yet challenging enough to satisfy the most experienced lifters. He seems to have a knack for persuading people to push themselves outside of their comfort zone without having to push too hard or yell too much. He uses subtle little hints and quest to get people moving better and over time they naturally get stronger, leaner and more fit.
In his spare time he enjoys hanging out with fellow fitness enthusiasts, spending time with Family and lifting really heavy things as many times as possible with good form. A quote that always stuck with Chris is "The secret to getting ahead is getting started" - Mark Twain
Christopher Ching is the Head Coach for the children and young adults’ martial arts program at Fight Fitness. He is continuously striving to enrich the lives of others - especially the lives of the most important people in the world (our kids!).
Chris believes in being a student for life: there are important lessons to learn everywhere! He believes that by keeping one’s mind open and ready to accept any and all challenges, almost any goal is achievable.
Chris began working as a humble dishwasher, working his way up the ranks of the kitchen brigade, while learning and honing new skills at Humber College during his time as a Cook’s Apprentice. Since graduating, he has tried his hand at carpentry, metal fabrication, heavy press operation (800 Ton Metal Press), and even catering. Chris does his best to embody the mindset and philosophy of the Jack of All Trades.
Christopher was certified by Joseph Hsiung - Fight Fitness’ very own Founder - to become an officially trained Fitness Kickboxing Instructor. Chris has practiced Martial Arts for almost a decade - he has practiced Kendo, Aikido, Kung Fu, and Parkour. By having a wide range of skills and experiences, Chris gathers and collects knowledge from everywhere and everyone. All walks of life are respected and cherished. However, he believes his students have made him a far better Martial Artist and person than any schooling he has received so far.
Christopher completed and received his certificate for his Cook’s Apprentice training at Humber College, where he learned not only how to cook good food, but also how to ensure people receive the highest nutrition from their diet.
Samer is a Fitness & Kickboxing coach who works with a multitude of clients to help them along the journey to a strong healthy life.
Samer knows the struggles that his clients face on a day to day basis and believes that with his coaching and personal experiences he can help coach his clients through a successful fitness journey.
Samer has always been involved in fitness. He played varsity level sports, as well as his training in martial arts. Coming from the corporate world of Project Management and continuous improvement he believes that your body is the best project you can ever work on. His methods of blending process and fitness make for a successful sustainable recipe to a better you.
His passion for fitness and for his clients is what pushes him to always challenge himself and learn new techniques.
He is a certified Kettlebell instructor, as well as a certified Fitness Kickboxing instructor, and continues a life-long pursuit for knowledge by attending various industry events, and undertaking new training.
Samer completed his B.A. in Business Economics with honours from York University.

"I was having lower back issues which made classes difficult for me, it was recommended that I take a few Personal training sessions with Josh. I explained to Josh my situation and that I wanted to strengthen my lower back to help with everyday life. Josh came back with strengthening exercises and explained each exercise and what it was helping me. He didn’t force me to continue something if it was hurting but he would change up the exercise.
He helped me focus on my movements with each exercise as well. Each week he added new exercises to help. Josh listens and guides your sessions to your needs, he also makes the sessions fun. I would recommend Josh for personal training session (his classes are fun as well)."

Though all of the FF coaches are fantastic, I make it a point every Wednesday night to attend Josh Wang’s Stouffville class. Josh’s classes NEVER disappoint. It’s an hour of kooky fun all the while continually perfecting form, working muscles, burning calories and pushing limits… I mean where else can you fly through the air and superhero slam!!!! Ka-Pow!!! I love how Josh goes back to the basics, where we really focus on pivoting and turning the right way to truly execute a combination to the full potential. There’s always something new, an unexpected twist, whether it’s a killer ab finisher or maybe a spinning kick burnout?
A FF beginner or a more seasoned member Josh easily tailors the class and makes it work for everyone, all the while delivering a KILLER WORKOUT! He takes the time to properly stretch at the end of each class (as much as I hate to do it), after working through one of Josh’s stretches I feel fantastic. During 2016 I set out to push my fitness limits and signed up for a few long distance runs, with one being the Scotia Bank half marathon in October. Throughout the training leading up to the runs, Josh offered advice for stretching, nutrition and recovery of those running muscles….thanks Josh for sharing your knowledge ☺
Josh consistently pursues and perfects his skill as an athlete. This spark and love of fitness spills over into his classes, where you have no choice but to be motivated to “PUSH”. Herman Cheung is a coach at Fight Fitness who works with men and women to reach their fitness and health goals through the art of fitness kickboxing and Afterburn bootcamp sessions.

"I started at Fight Fit as a friend is a member in Markham and she bugged me to try it. I attend Laura’s classes once a week, sometimes 2. I really like her classes as there is good variety. Laura is very encouraging and quickly adapt an exercise when it is not possible to do it. I always feel that I have had a good workout after I leave her classes. I would recommend people to attend Laura’s classes. I wish she taught more of them at times I can attend."
I live very close to Fight Fitness Stouffville location. I drove by many times and saw the sign back in 2016. In March 2017, I decided to walk-in to get some information in one of my day-offs. Mid-September marks my half year journey fighting with Fight Fitness. I attend Laura's class on Fridays and some Thursdays.
Laura is a great motivator, coach and fitness instructor. She is always clear about all the moves and show you ways to improve your efficacy. I am always afraid of the big black tractor wheel. I tried to lift it before but I could not even move it an inch forward. Last night's class I tried it again, Laura encouraged me and she said "Amy, you can do it!" and she lift it with me and showed me how to use my legs to push forward and engage my muscles. We flipped it a few times! I understood most of the strength was from Laura, however, I appreciate how she helped me changing my "can't attitude" to a "can attitude". I know one day I can flip that big black tire all by myself.
My schedule won't allow me to join the weekend classes, so if I want to join Laura's class I need to come on Friday night. That helped me escape my Friday wings, beer, heavy dinner outside. I usually feel energized, tired, inspired, motivated, exhausted, awesome and sore after Friday's class with Laura. What a great way to start my weekends!
I recommend others to go to Laura's class because she is a no nonsense coach. She reminds me of G.I. Jane; I need to kick, punch and work within that hour in class with a non-stoppable attitude. She is not just a voice yelling at you to keep going but a force to drive you to push your limits and achieve your goals.

"Sessions with May are amazing, especially Friday night. May incorporates cardio as much as possible, which I hate at the time but find that it is necessary for me to reach my goals. She keeps the circuit time short during afterburn because it keeps me interested in what I am doing instead of doing the same exercise for an extended period of time. She’s a constant motivation, if needed, which throughout a workout is something I really appreciate because I am someone who needs external reinforcement to keep me going and I find that she does this in a positive way.
Her kickboxing classes are fun and I enjoy that they involve many basic combos, as I am not someone who has done kickboxing before starting at Fight Fit. Rebecca Crupi is a 40-year old mama of 5 boys: 23 years to 4 year old twins, and a wife.
Rebecca is constantly trying to balance and fine tune her work life/mama duties as well as her own personal fitness goals to keep herself happy and healthy - body and mind for herself as well as her family.
She has been in the fitness industry since 2011 as a health and fitness consultant and is passionate about helping others find the time they deserve to achieve their goals.
She began her own personal journey after a knee injury and several repair surgeries. They left her unable to walk and in a wheelchair for six months and required the use of a cane forone year after having her third child. She struggled to not only to find the time, but also the motivation to make time for herself, subsequently "letting herself go". She recalls the feelings of hitting an all time low, and it was up to her to pick herself up!
Rebecca joined a reputable Boxing Gym in 2010 and her love for everything fitness was kickstarted !
Her self confidence and self esteem were restored and then some, as well as surpassing her goals. She knew this was her journey and her mission to share her experiences, trials and tribulations with others to help them see their self worth as well and to achieve their goals!
In 2011 Rebecca moved to Markham and kept up with her fitness path through her work at Extreme fitness in the Downtown core.
In 2012, Rebecca had her preemie twin boys and decided to leave the industry to raise her new babies, one of which has extensive medical challenges including complex congenital heart disease, as well as to care for her older boys. She decided to put her passion on hold.
In 2014, Rebecca found Fight Fitness, and with her twins now bigger and stronger, her passion for fitness was sparked through the Fight Fit family.
She knew quickly that this was more than a temporary stop for her and more than just a "typical" workout! She realized her love for boxing and kickboxing would continue through coaching!
Rebecca has currently completed her Fight Fitness Kickboxing Instructor Certification, her black band ranking, and CPR training.
She loves meeting new people in different stages and from all walks of life. Rebecca feels she is able to relate on multiple levels as a busy working mom, a wife, and as a member of the over 40 club. She believes she is exactly where she is supposed to be, helping transform people's dreams of a healthy lifestyle to a reality.

Thomas Thai is the true definition of a health professional as he aspires to continually help others with every aspect of health and fitness. Thomas believes that your health is your greatest wealth. People who do not take initiative to better their condition now will eventually have to make time for it in the future when co-morbidities and injuries arise!
In the last 6 years, Thomas has helped others achieve their fitness goals whether it is building muscles, burning fat, or recovering from injuries. Thomas has worked as a personal trainer, Kinesiologist, and Physiotherapist. He is currently in the process of becoming a fully licensed Physiotherapist in Canada however still has a strong passion for group training and individual fitness.
What adds to Thomas’ experience is the fact that he has been through it all! Thomas has trained in Jui-Jitsu and Muay Thai for 2 years as well as competed in Fitness Competitions and nationally qualified. He has been injured and has also treated patients from a wide range of acute injuries to chronic conditions. During his free time, he enjoys swimming, track and field training, weight lifting, and mixed martial arts.
Thomas completed his BA.Spec.Hons. in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University. He then went on to complete his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney, Australia. Thomas continues to take professional development courses as well as fitness certifications to feed his hunger for knowledge.
Diventhan Joathinathan is a Fitness Professional who coaches clients with the passion of helping them surpass their plateaus and reach greatness. He believes that hard work and dedication will empower one to achieve their goals.
Diventhan Joathinathan has been in the fitness and health world for couple of years now, and is also currently working as a Fitness Specialist for the City of Markham.
Diventhan is a registered health and exercise practitioner for Resistance Training and Group Exercise through Ontario Fitness Council (OFC). He is also a certified Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor and holds certifications as a Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).
Diventhan has completed his Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion from Humber College.
Kiana is a Fitness Instructor Specialist and Level 2 WAG gymnastics coach who believes that no matter who you are or where you come from, it's never too late to start something new because anything can be accomplished with a positive mindset.
Kiana was a competitive provincial gymnast for 7 years before she was forced to quit due to an injury. Her continuing love for the sport pushed her to start coaching in 2012, and since then she has worked with young athletes of all levels to help them become the strongest and best gymnasts they can become.
Her growing desire to expand her knowledge of the fitness industry drove her to obtain her FIS certification from canfitpro, and she now works as a Fitness Instructor as well as a gymnastics coach. Her journey as a Fight Fit intern helped her become a more confident and competent instructor and coach, and she looks forward to helping anyone and everyone achieve their fitness goals in the future.
Kiana is currently studying Kinesiology at Western University.
Setayesh is a Fight Fitness Coach. Her passion for fitness started 6 years ago which put her on a personal journey towards becoming stronger. Her philosophy is based on her experience with fitness which is to meaningfully integrate fitness into our lives to become better in all other areas of our life. Setayesh completed her CanFitPro personal training certification to broaden her knowledge about different movements. She believes that the key to progress in fitness is to constantly innovative and never stop challenging ourselves. Setayesh is currently in her last of H.B.SC. in Biomedical Toxicology at the University of Toronto. Setayesh enjoys community work and volunteers at a local hospital. She is also an active member of her a public speaking club, Toastmasters at UofT. She encourages Fight Fit members to join her in becoming stronger and healthier as she shares her journey with them as a coach at Fight Fitness.
A recent graduate of Western Universiy with a BA in Criminology, Tala has played sports all her life. From soccer, to volleyball, to rugby, and most recently as the captain of the Western Women's Football Team, being active is a part of life. As team captain, Tala's leadership skills work towards building a cohesive environment that will allow you to get the highest satisfaction out of your workout.
As an administrator at Fight Fit, Angelina is the first friendly face to greet you. She has a natural talent to make you feel welcome and at ease, as if you were part of the family. Angelina wears many hats from assisting you with your account, booking your classes, to making sure you look stylish while you sweat!
For many years she has run a successful business as a wardrobe consultant. She works tirelessly to educate, empower and build confidence to her clients through fashion. Now has a part of the Fight Fit Family, her passion is to bring that same experience of empowering and build confidence to all members to ensure they realize their fitness goals.
Lisa graduated from a hospitality and tourism program. She is in the administrator position at Fight Fitness. Lisa loves to travel and is always down to try all kinds of extreme sports.Some of these sports include surfing, scuba diving, skydiving, and many more. If you are interested in extreme sports let her know because she's always looking for new people to experience them with. She has an easy going personality and like to talk with everyone and anyone.
